SciViz.NYC|2017 Call for Proposals

 

The organizing team of SciViz.NYC invites speakers to submit proposals for six 10-minute “lightning” presentations at the upcoming SciViz.NYC|2017 meeting, to be held Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, NYC. Proposals should be under one page in length and include a summary of the presentation topic and a speaker biography.

Successful proposals will address the mission of SciViz.NYC: Bringing NYC-area visual science communicators, researchers, journalists, artists, and enthusiasts together for an event focused on visualizing science for analysis, education, inspiration, and provocation.

Topics can include:

  • Summary of a recently completed or ongoing project in data/scientific visualization
  • A novel approach to solving visual problems in the sciences
  • Innovative methods to integrating arts into the sciences, or vice versa, in journalism, education, or research
  • Review of a fine art project that incorporates scientific concepts or data

Please submit your proposal by July 15, 2017 to sciviznyc@gmail.com. Successful applicants will be informed by August 30, 2017. Presenters will receive a $100 honorarium.
